Using Award Marks and Results Materials

Distinguish a programme identity from a recipient mark, then check the product, channel, term and licence covered by the result.

An award name, a neutral programme identity and a recipient mark are different things. Identify the graphic first, then establish who may use it, for which product and in which channels.

Verify the result actually received

Keep the winning product or work, formal title, edition, category, level, recipient and official-result link. Any translated title must match the official result. Shortlisting, nomination or trend selection must not be rewritten as winning an award.

For brands with several products, the mark should remain associated with the actual recipient. A company profile may report the achievement accurately, but should not imply that unentered products, an entire range or every business activity received the same evaluation.

Check licence charges separately from award charges

The GOOD DESIGN AWARD G Mark rules provide for a one-year period following the recipient’s application and payment of the usage fee. This is separate from the award package. Read the graphic rules and prohibited examples before use.

Monde Selection’s pricing information states that the entry fee includes a three-year licence for the corresponding quality-award mark if awarded. These two programmes have different terms and charging structures; neither establishes that other marks are free indefinitely.

Finalist and winner materials are not interchangeable

The Cosmoprof North America 2027 rules make specific arrangements for finalist Seals and communications, and distinguish the awards from CosmoTrends. Use the graphic and title matching the result received.

Before publication, compare the certificate, official notification and available assets. Where several versions exist, record their intended recipients. Do not substitute a higher-level mark, another year’s mark or the organiser’s main logo for the product’s result.

Follow the official graphic specifications

Colour, proportions, clear space, year and qualifying words follow the relevant official rules. Check that the licence covers the intended packaging, website, retail material or advertising. Do not redraw, recolour or remove required information without a clear basis.

Designers need more than the artwork file: they also need the term, recipient product and conditions. Production and publication teams should keep the same approved checklist so that year and level information survives handover.

Manage the usage period after publication

For time-limited permission, record the start, end and renewal conditions. Before expiry, check renewal and the treatment of existing packaging and online materials. Follow the organiser’s permitted approach rather than assuming that historical publicity or packaging may remain in use indefinitely.

Archive certificates, award pages, licence records and published artwork. Results and communications support can organise this record; multiple annual results can be coordinated through annual advisory.

A practical question

May the mark be changed to suit the page colours?

Do not alter artwork where the official rules prohibit it. Use an officially permitted light or dark version and adapt the page background. If no suitable version exists, do not redraw an approximation.

Check the organiser and edition in the directory. If assistance is required, compare self-entry and advisory support.
